Makey is a parent-built educational resource. This policy explains the information collected through Makey.com and how it is used.

Information we collect

When you sign up, Makey collects the parent or caregiver email address you provide, your consent choice, and the submission time. A Makey Learn account also stores a short child nickname, an avatar, activity progress, completed lessons, and worksheet download history. Please do not use a child’s full name.

Makey records limited technical security information such as the requested route, browser type, country, and an irreversible keyed hash of the connecting address. Raw connecting addresses are not stored in Makey’s application analytics.

On public-facing pages, Google Analytics may receive the page viewed, referral source, approximate location, browser and device information, and interaction timing. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies for this measurement. Private learner activity and administrator pages are not sent to Google Analytics.

How we use information

Makey uses signup information to send weekly kindergarten activities, program updates, and occasional offers you agreed to receive. Account and learning information is used to provide the service, show family progress, understand curriculum use, prevent abuse, and improve Makey.

Service providers

Makey uses Cloudflare to host and secure the website, including Cloudflare Turnstile for bot protection and Cloudflare D1 for operational records. Google Analytics measures use of public-facing pages. Resend processes transactional and marketing email. During the transition to Makey’s management system, valid homepage signup submissions may also be mirrored to Google Sheets. These providers process information on Makey’s behalf to operate the service.

Sharing and selling

Makey does not sell your email address. Information is shared only with service providers needed to operate the website and email program, or when required by law.

Retention and security

Makey keeps account, consent, and unsubscribe records for as long as needed to provide the service and honour communication choices. Application security events are normally retained for 90 days, while aggregate learning and administrator audit events are normally retained for up to two years. Administrator access requires a password and a fresh email security code. Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from weekly homework, updates, and offers at any time using the unsubscribe link in a Makey marketing email. Unsubscribing does not close your account or stop essential messages such as verification and private family-sharing links. You can also reply to a Makey email to ask about your information or request an update or deletion, subject to legal and operational recordkeeping requirements.

Children’s privacy

Makey’s website and email signup are intended for parents and caregivers. Makey does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through the signup form.

This policy may be updated as Makey’s services develop. The date at the top of this page shows the latest revision.
